The Republican Party sent a letter to the Secret Service on Friday urging the police agency to keep protesters farther away from the venue for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July. The three-page letter, signed by Todd R. Steggerda, counsel to the Republican National Committee, objected to the placement of an area where protesters would be allowed to demonstrate. Mr. Steggerda argued that convention attendees would be forced to pass by the protesters on their way into the venue, raising the potential for confrontations. “As recent college and university campus clashes make plain,” Mr. Steggerda wrote in the letter obtained by The New York Times, “forced proximity heightens tensions among peaceful attendees and demonstrators of differing ideologies and increases the risk of escalation to verbal, or even physical, clashes.”

But Paulson is not the only GOP kingmaker who is privately gearing up to help Trump. "It's the old cast coming back together to take it across the finish line," said an advisor to one of Trump's bundlers. Many of these "old cast" members are business leaders who have been close to Trump for years. CNN —Former “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd delivered a stunning rebuke of NBC News on Sunday, blasting the network for hiring former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel as a paid political analyst. As RNC chair, McDaniel was a prominent election denier, working to help disgraced former President Donald Trump subvert the 2020 vote. Asked why she didn’t offer such condemnation as RNC chairwoman, McDaniel responded, “When you’re the RNC chair, you kind of take one for the whole team. But Todd noted that because McDaniel was a paid network contributor, it was not clear whether she was being genuine. CNN —Indiana’s ban on transition care for minors can take effect, an appeals court ruled Tuesday, issuing a stay on the district court’s ruling that blocked parts of the law last summer. The ruling from the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago ordered the preliminary injunction from the district court in June 2023 to be stayed – meaning the law will take effect immediately. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, a Republican, applauded the ruling in an audio statement shared with CNN. “Following the court’s order yesterday, Indiana’s common-sense law is now enforceable again,” Rokita said. “Meaning that we’re going to be banning dangerous and irreversible gender transition procedures for minors.

Big Tech's market dominance may push more investors to equal-weight exchange-traded funds, according to VettaFi's Todd Rosenbluth. Rosenbluth lists the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF and the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight Technology ETF as options for investors who want to reduce exposure to the "Magnificent Seven." "You own the same companies that you'd find within the S&P 500 or in the technology sector. Long-term yields might be the best bond investment this year, according to one exchange-traded fund expert. "The iShares 20-year Treasury ETF (TLT ) will get the biggest bang for its buck [and] some of the intermediate-term products like the Vanguard Intermediate-Term Corp Bond (VCIT ) will get some bang for the buck," VettaFi's Todd Rosenbluth told CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday. Rosenbluth added that while the short-term products were very popular last year, they will "largely tread water or earn a little more than their overall income." The firm's head of research reasons that if the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates more than expected then investors should stay in longer-term products to benefit. "We saw a lot of money start to move out of the short end of the curve into intermediate duration," said Slavin, the company's global head of ETFs.

"They don't have the ability to put these bitcoin ETFs into client discretionary portfolios, yet," Sigel says. Expect more new crypto ETFs, too — and in different flavors. CNN —A judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by the state of Indiana against TikTok accusing the company of making false claims about the safety of user data and age-appropriate content. Judge Jennifer DeGroote of Allen County Superior Court in Fort Wayne, Indiana, said the court “lacks personal jurisdiction” over TikTok and that downloading an app at no cost does not constitute a “consumer transaction” under the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act, according to court documents. Similar lawsuits now remain active in other states including Arkansas and Utah. The lawsuit alleged TikTok attracts young people to its platform under the pretense that it’s safe yet still exposes them to inappropriate content including drug and alcohol use, nudity and profanity. Indiana was also one of the first states that ordered TikTok to be banned on government-issued devices, citing the threat of “gaining access to critical U.S. information and infrastructure.”- CNN’s Clare Duffy contributed to this report

They alleged the app contains “salacious and inappropriate content” despite the company claiming it is safe for children 13 years and under. In the second complaint, the state argued that the app deceives consumers into believing their sensitive and personal information is secure. Judge Jennifer L. DeGroote of the Allen County Superior Court in Fort Wayne made the ruling. A federal judge later rejected TikTok’s request to move the lawsuit to federal court but also described the attorney general's lawsuit as largely “ political posturing ” in a ruling. Indiana is among several states and the federal government that have ordered the TikTok app deleted from government-issued devices.

The number of exchange-traded funds in the artificial intelligence space has exploded in the past year. (AP) — Indiana's attorney general violated professional conduct rules in statements he made about a doctor who provided an abortion to a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio in the weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last summer, according to a court opinion filed Thursday. At the time, Ohio law prohibited abortions after six weeks of pregnancy but the girl could still be provided a legal abortion in Indiana. The opinion specifically faulted Rokita for describing Bernard on the show as an “abortion activist acting as a doctor — with a history of failing to report" instances of abuse. In his statement, Rokita said he signed an affidavit to bring the proceedings to a close and to “save a lot of taxpayer money and distraction." Within weeks of Bernard's July 2022 interview about providing the abortion, Indiana became the first state to approve abortion restrictions after the U.S. Supreme Court ended constitutional protections.
